Hoop dancers Kinew and Saagatay Councillor from Naicatchewenin First Nation are the stars of Woodlands Groove. The short film is a product of Superior Theatre Festival 2020 project. Although the annual event is taking a break in 2021, artistic Director Donna Marie Baratta will be focusing on “restructuring, rebuilding, rethinking and revisioning” the beloved festival.

Five years ago Donna-Marie Baratta started the Superior Theatre Festival. It's a multi-disciplinary arts festival that now takes place each summer in Thunder Bay. Not only does it stage performances, but it also presents classes and other development opportunities for artists and young people. This year's festival kicks off Tues., Aug. 18, and things will be different due to COVID-19. Donna-Marie Baratta is the artistic and managing director, and she spoke to host Amy Hadley about this year's festival on Up North.
