JOB OPPORTUNITIES

PRODUCER POSITION  

2 positions available

Start Date: May 30, 2022

End Date: August 8, 2022

Fee: Paid Position (10-15 hours per week, depending on the week, weeks closer to the Festival will be longer part-time hours)

Location: Producers must be based in Thunder Bay and/or surrounding area

Engagement Conditions: Contract, part time.

 

Producers are responsible for the planning and execution of all artistic programming (performances, events, masterclasses etc.). Producers will be working on 3-5 smaller events. They will work closely with artists and community sponsors and partners to ensure each event goes smoothly.

Producers will be responsible for different elements of producing. Examples of these responsibilities are: marketing, promotion, execution of all advertising, booking and liaison with artists, community outreach, social media content procurement, recruitment of volunteers and box office/ticketing. We are looking for candidates who are innovative, positive and have a solution-focused mindset.

 

Producers will report to the Artistic and Managing Director. 

We encourage submissions from artists of all backgrounds, all lived experiences, abilities, ages and identities. 

 

May 20th - Application Deadline

May 24th - Begin candidate Interviews (evenings only)

May 30th - Contract Begins

August 8th - Contract Ends

COMMUNITY STAGE PERFORMANCE PRESENTATION CALLOUT 

Community Stage GUIDELINES for Presentation of Multi-disciplinary work

Superior Theatre Festival Community Stage dates are: July 23 and 24th, 2022 with the 25th as a Rain-Out date

Delivery/Submission Date

All applications must be submitted online by May 23rd, 2022.

Applications will be read by STF producers and select board members

Project Proposal

  • Provide information about you or your company.

  • Provide a description of the project/act you would like to share

  • Provide an explanation of the current development of the work and your goals for its presentation

  • Add an explanation of the physical, spatial or technical requirements for the project

 

STF is interested in why this project excites you and why you chose to submit this project.  If you are a community choir for instance, how have you curated these songs? Via theme or connections between the work?

 

Applications are curated based on artistic merit, clarity of vision and fit with the rest of the Festival. You may be contacted to discuss your application further, prior to final selections.

 

Additional Support Material (will be returned or deleted as it is your artistic property)

  • For non-text-based work, a description of the project or video from past projects may be submitted (required)

  • For text-based work - the script will need to be submitted for review (required)

  • Submit company website (if available at time of submission)

  • Biographies and history of confirmed project collaborators (if available at time of submission)

Superior Theatre Festival Presentation Resources:

  • Performance Fee - to be worked out with the artists, since all acts will vary in length of time and number of artists involved. All artists will be paid for their performances.

  • Outdoor stage with sound equipment/microphones etc. in the Spirit Garden

  • Dance Floor for all dance performances

  • Venue technician and technical support from Festival Staff

  • Festival advertising and marketing including website, poster, and press releases

  • Advance and at-venue box office services

  • Front of House services

  • Producing support

Details for Participating Companies/Artists:

  • Professional and Amateur Artists will be featured

  • Length of work: 10 - 60 minutes max, works will be considered at multiple stages of development.  We encourage experimentation and re-imagining of your current work.

  • Shorter projects (30 minutes and under) will be curated with other projects 30 minutes and under.  

  • Companies/Artists that are accepted are responsible for casting, contracting, production planning and actualization of their project

  • While we are sympathetic to the natural evolution of a project, if your production differs significantly from your application proposal please inform us of any changes to the project, so we can have a conversation about changes and ideally find a way forward together.
